What is the difference between a Portable Cooler, an evaporative cooler, and a swamp cooler?

The short answer is nothing; they are different terms for the same thing – they all rely on the principle of evaporation to cool the air. Water runs over the pads and evaporates quickly by forcing outdoor dryer air over water-saturated pads using an efficient fan, thereby reducing the air temperature by up to twenty degrees.
